Drinking More Water for Fitness and Overall Wellness

We all know our bodies are comprised mostly of water and the importance of replenishing that fluid for overall wellness.  However, most of us don’t drink as much water as we should or any at all.  Staying hydrated is just not important when your exercising but for overall health.  Water is important not only to cool down the body during exercise but helps with the body’s overall function. The trick to drinking more water may be as simple as what you choose to drink it in. For me this was no different than that favorite coffee mug that I drink my coffee from.  For some reason the coffee just tastes better from that mug and most importantly the way the mug fits just so in my hands. When I was trying to up my water intake I used this philosophy with what I drink my water from.  I noticed I drink more water from an insulated tumbler that has a straw or a sports water bottle.  For some reason I just don’t finish the water from a glass or a store bought water in a disposable bottle.  Just like I add milk and sugar to my coffee, I tend to like my water better with ice.  In the summer I’ll add a lemon or orange slice but not any other time. Just try different things till you figure out what works for you. Maybe your favorite water cup is a sparkly one your granddaughter got you or it features your favorite sports team. You could also try using a water app on your phone to track the water you’re drinking. The important thing is to keep hydrated in a way that works for you so you can be a healthier you.
